HOW E-TOLL AFFECTS YOU

Please note that although Ariva is the title-holder of the vehicle, it is registered in your name and you are responsible for any e-toll charges incurred during your rental contract.

In order to make the e-toll process as easy as possible, we have included all the e-toll registration options and explanations.

Regular e-Road Users
When registering an e-toll account, e-road users can choose to have their vehicles recognised by the vehicle licence plate number, or by an e-tag and vehicle licence plate number. Use of an e-tag provides the benefits of all applicable discounts.

e-Toll Account registration can be done through any of the following:

  • At an e-toll Customer Service Centre, located at a mall or along the Gauteng e-road (click here for locations).
  • Online, at http://www.sanral.co.za (click here).
  • By phoning the e-toll Call Centre on 0800 SANRAL (726 725) between 6am – 10pm, 7 days a week. *Note: When completing your e-toll account registration via the Call Centre, your banking details should be entered via the touch pad on your telephone and should never be recited to an operator.
  • Through downloading a Customer Information sheet which can be faxed to 0800 SANRAL (726 725). *Note: When completing your e-toll account registration via the Call Centre, your banking details should be entered via the touch pad on your telephone and should never be recited to an operator or e-mailed to info@sa-etoll.co.za or handed in at an e-toll Customer Service Centre.
  • By sending your Vehicle Licence Plate Number to 44004 (SANRAL Call Centre will phone back to complete your registration).
  • By scanning the QR barcode as illustrated below and completing your pre-registration through our mobi site (SANRAL Call Centre will phone back to complete your registration).

Please Note: More than one vehicle or e-tag can be linked to one e-toll Account.
Infrequent Gauteng e-road users
Road users who do not use the Gauteng e-roads on a regular basis can either register with an e-tag or purchase a Day Pass.

An occasional road user of the Gauteng e-toll roads can purchase a Day Pass through any of the following channels:

  • Visit SANRAL’s conveniently located e-toll Customer Service Centres (click here for locations).
  • Phoning the e-toll Call Centre at 0800 SANRAL (726 725). Note: When completing your e-toll Account registration via the Call Centre, your banking details should be entered via the touch pad on your telephone and should never be recited to an operator.

It is important to note the following about a Day Pass:

  • It should be purchased before using the Gauteng e-road.
  • You may purchase a Day Pass up to 30 days before using the Gauteng e-roads.
  • It is valid for 24-hours after activation.
  • It is activated upon your first gantry passage after purchase.
  • It may only be purchased 12 times per year for a vehicle.
  • It is valid for 30 days from the date of purchase.
  • Cannot be activated retrospectively (i.e. it cannot be used to pay for toll transactions prior to the purchase of the Day Pass).
  • Is valid for the payment of all e-toll transactions and any number of kilometres driven on the Gauteng e-road, as per the conditions set out above after purchase. Is only valid on the Gauteng e-roads and cannot be used as payment of toll at conventional toll plazas. (Click here for the map.) 
  • It entitles you to drive through as many gantries on the Gauteng e-road in a 24-hour period with the vehicle the Day Pass has been purchased for.
  • No refunds are given on a Day Pass if transaction values do not equate to the amount the Day Pass was purchased for. Should you not have a registered an e-toll account, or purchased a Day pass before making use of the Gauteng e-road, you may pay for your un-paid e-toll.
